Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)

Restless leg syndrome is a movement disorder characterized by creeping, crawling, and unpleasant sensations in the legs prior to sleep. This causes the Restless Leg Syndrome victim to move their legs for relief, many times keeping them awake at night. This can lead to severe insomnia and excessive daytime sleepiness. Many patient with restless leg syndrome also have (PLM).

Periodic Limb Movements (PLM)

Periodic Limb Movement Disorder is characterized by periodic episodes of repetitive limb movements that occur during sleep. These episodes of limb movement can be disruptive to sleep. If limb movements are disruptive, the person may complain of insomnia, restless or non-restorative sleep, and excessive daytime sleepiness. Often, the individual with PLM does not realize that they are suffering from the disorder. Usually, our Midland office is contacted by the bed partner who is often more aware of the nighttime movements.
